Army chief reviews security situation in J and K

Jammu, Mar 22 (UNI) Chief of Army staff General J J Singh today visited Northern Command headquarters here at Udhampur to look over operational preparedness of forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, official spokesman said.

Northern Command GOC-in-C Lt Gen H S Panag, who received Gen Singh, also briefed him on the operational situation in the state.

The Army chief expressed satisfaction on the operational preparedness and the successful counter-terrorist operations being conducted by the forces deployed there, the spokesman added.

Gen Singh also held discussions with senior officers of the command.

He commended the Northern Command for spontaneous assistance rendered during 'Operation Hamsafar' and the continued help provided to civilians in the past few weeks.
