US navy warship arrives in ENC
Visakhapatnam, Mar 21 (UNI) The United States Navy Warship 'USS Dubuque' dock today arrived here for a four-day visit to the Eastern Naval Command(ENC).
A ENC release said here the ship was on a routine familiarisation visit to the Indian Navy. The visit was significant in view of the ENC acquiring a similar ship from the United States that would be commissioned as INS Jalashwa and would be based in the city.
The US Ship Commander captain William C Hamilton called on the ENC flag-officer Commanding-in-chief Vice Admiral AK Singh, exchanged mementos and went around the ENC establishments.
Later, Vice Admiral Singh was taken around USS Dubuque' and explained its features and capabilities. It has a crew of 30 officers and 401 sailors. The length of the ship is 172.4 metres and has a beam of 31.8 metres. The displacement is roughly 16,000 tonnes, the release added.
