Three Gujarat companies get national award

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) Three prominent power companies of the Gujarat government -- Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd.

(GETCO), Gujarat Industries Power Co. Ltd. ((GIPCL) and Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (UGVCL) -- today bagged the prestigious National Award from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at a function here.

The GETCO won the silver shield for an early completion of transmission project of 226/66 kV Mathasur (Bhutia) sub-station in Sabarkantha district while GIPCL and UGVCL won bronze shield for outstanding performance in power distribution.

Ms Vijya Laxmi Joshi, Principal Secretary, Energy and Petrochemicals, Mr L.Chuanungo, Managing Director, GIPCL and Mri D.G. Naik, Director, GIPCL received award from the Prime Minister for outstanding performance at CCGT, Thermal Power Station.

For GETCO, Mr S.K. Negi, MD and Mr P.H. Rana, Director( Technical), received the award while for UGVCL, Mr G. Mohapatra, Chairman, and Mr H.S.Patel, MD, received the award at the function organised in the Parliament Annexe.
