Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 21: Kerala Chief Minister V S Acuthanadan said the government had decided to conduct a feasibility study about introducing suburban trains between Ernakulam and Kozhikode.

Briefing Cabinet decision to reporters here yesterday, he said the Cabinet had also decided to entrust the work with Delhi Metro authorities.

He said it also decided to include the land acquisition process to the proposed Tanur-Guruvayoor railway line in fast track system.

To speed up the process the government also decided to establish two revenue units with 40 staff in each unit.

In view of the impending drought situation in the state, the government had decided to allot Rs 12 crore each to all the districts to meet the situation.

The government had earlier alloted Rs five crore to each district for the same purpose, he said.

Mr Achuthanandan stated it had also decided to organise various programmes in all the districts with a development project, in connection with the 50th anniversary of the EMS Namboodiripad government.
