Sitel opens fifth centre in India

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) Back office services provider Sitel India today opened its fifth contact centre in India at Gurgaon with an initial headcount of 500.

The company plans to bring on an additional 4,000 people in the next two years as part of its strategic growth plans in India, Sitel India Chief Executive Officer Safir Adeni said adding that 2,000 people will be hired in the Gurgaon centre which will be scaled further to 4,000.

''The centre will serve a major North American client and will initially focus on the financial and telecom verticals,'' Mr Adeni told reporters here.

The company had invested Rs 100 crore last year and plans to double the investment over the next 18 months, he added.

''The huge talent available at one place, better infrastructure and scalability had compelled us to open the centre here,'' he said adding that the company's core channel is voice while 27 per cent of its operations is non-voice.

Sitel India currently employs 4,000 people and is operating from five centres in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Gurgaon and serving global clients in technology, telecom, ISP, BFSI, retail and travel verticals.

The company having 30,000 transaction per day recorded an annual turnover of 50 million dollars last year and is likely to double it next fiscal.

Formed by the merger of Clientlogic and Sitel in January this year, the new company meets clients needs through 65,000 associates in 28 countries and provides services to on-shore and offshore locations across 145 facilities throughout North America, South America and Asia Pacific.

The company's global revenues touched two billion dollars and it supports three million transactions per day.
