New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) For the second consecutive day today, cool Easterly winds brought relief to the people of Delhi from the scorching heat of the past few days.

The cool winds and thundershowers, set off by a short burst of heavy rains yesterday, led to a fall in the mercury in the Capital today.

While the maximum fell to 31.6 degrees celsius, from 33.4 degrees yesterday, the minimum fell to 18.7 degrees.

Weatherman attribute the sudden spell of rainfall to the influence of a fresh Western disturbance.

With clouds hovering over the skyline for the second continuous day, the weatherman forecast more rains and thundershowers during the next 24 hours under the influence of the Western disturbance.

''The current meteorological analysis suggests that the ongoing precipitation over Northwest India is likely to continue during the next 24 hours,''the weatherman said.

The met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with the probability of rain and thundershowers in some areas. They have also predicted hailstorms or thundersqualls in some areas.

There is also likely to be a further drop in minimum temperature to 17 degrees tomorrow.
