Sarhul celebrated with religious fervour

Ranchi, Mar 21 (UNI) The tribal festival of Sarhul was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm throughout Jharkhand today.

Tribal youths dressed in their traditional attire offered special prayers at the 'Sarnas'(places of worship).

Chief Minister Madhu Koda and Human Resource Development Minister Bandhu Tirkey offered prayers at a 'Sarna' located in the Hatma area here.

The tribals took out a procession with boys and girls dancing to the sound of traditional musical instruments 'mandar', 'nagara' and 'dhol'.

The festival was observed at Sariakela Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, Gumla, Loherdega, Dumka and other places.

Cultural clubs in the state organised various programmes to mark the day.

Security had been beefed up to avoid any untoward incident, police sources said.
