Prisoner hangs himself in Alwar jail

Alwar, Mar 21 (UNI) A prisoner lodged in the district jail here allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself.

Additional District Collector (City) P C Sharma said Kanwar Singh, a native of Haryana, went to the loo and hanged himself to death with his towel late last night. Kanwar Singh has been arrested on charges of dacoity and loot.

Other prisoners informed the jail administration when Kanwar Singh failed to come out after a long time.

Mr Sharma said the matter is being investigated by judicial magistrate P P Singh.
