Plan investment during the 10th Plan would amount to Rs 3,009 crore

Shillong, Mar 21 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister Dr Mukul M Sangma today informed the Assembly that the Plan investment during the 10th Plan for the state is likely to be around Rs 3,009 crore.

The investment in the ninth five year plan was Rs 1824.39 crore, he said.

Dr Sangma said some of the achievements made in the end of the fourth year include - foodgrain production increase from 214.96 metric tonnes at the end of the 9th Plan to 248.40 metric tonnes during 2005-06 and horticulture production increase from 22.70 metric tonnes at the end of the 9th Plan to 234.33 metric tonnes during 2005-06.

He also informed that the number of villages electrified at the end of the ninth plan was 2,763 which increased to 4,232 during 2005-06.

On road development, he said 612 kms of new roads were constructed and the road density increased from 33.67 km per 100 sq km at the end of the 9th Plan to 36.40 km per sq km as on March 31 2006.

At the end of the ninth plan, Dr Sangma said the number of Public Health Centres were 82 which increased to 112 as on March 31, 2006 while the number of Community Health Centres increased from 16 to 29 during the same period.

Replying to Pynshai Manik Syiem's(IND) query, Dr Sangma said Meghalaya's contribution to the National Gross Domestic Product at the current prices during 2004-05 was 0.21 per cent.
