PAC found irregularities in fund use in Mizoram
Aizawl, Mar 21 (UNI) The Public Accounts Committee(PAC) of Mizoram Assembly today lambasted the power and school education departments for irregularities in use of funds during 2002-03.
PAC chairman Lalduhoma said the electricity department was pulled up over the purchase of electrical circuit-breakers in March 2001 and the school education department for paying teachers' salaries with funds meant for Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana.
Quoting the Comptroller and Auditor General's report, he stated in the house, ''there was a possible nexus between the purchasing authorities and supplier in the power department while school education department diverted funds violating Centre's instructions.'' ''The absence of any records of high level meetings on crucial matter is something extremely unusual and we recommend henceforth, written record of such matter should be made available for references,'' he added.
