Oppn demands disqualification of Cong Ministers, MLAs
Hyderabad, Mar 21 (UNI) Leaders of the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded action against Congress Ministers, MLAs and leaders who allegedly violated the code of conduct by adopting to open ballot system in the Member of Legislative Council elections from the local body constituencies.
Addressing a press conference here, TDP MLA E Dayakara Rao, along with others, said the Congress Ministers and MLAs who adopted to the open ballot system, should be disqualified by the Election Commission.
He said the Election Commission should also disqualify State Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for allegedly supporting his Ministers and MLAs on this issue. He said the TDP had already submitted a memorandum with proofs to the Election Commission.
Mr Rao alleged that the Congress had selected those candidates for the Council who had the habit of indulging in irregularities in the elections.
BJP Floor Leader G Kishan Reddy told newspersons that the Congress Ministers and MLAs had degenerated political values by adopting to the open ballot system.
He demanded disqualification of Ministers and MLAs and repoll in the areas where the Congress leaders had resorted to the open ballot system.
