Mob torches truck that crushed students

Betul, MP, Mar 21 (UNI) A mob torched a truck that crushed two motorcyle-borne students, including a girl, in this district's Hirapur village today and also pelted stones at the police.

''This afternoon's mishap claimed Mahesh Parte (18) and Shanti Marskole (16). Severely-injured Rukmani (16) was admitted to the district hospital. The trio were returning to their village after appearing for a higher-secondary exam. Chopna Station House Officer B S Gurjar was hurt in the stone-pelting. Truck driver Devnarayan has been arrested,'' Superintendent of Police Jagatsingh Sanswal told UNI.

An additional police force has been stationed in the area and the situation is under control. The district administration has provided Rs 5,000 each as ex-gratia and Rs 2,500 to the injured student.
