Chennai, Mar 21 (UNI) Tamil Nadu today rebuffed Karnataka's overtures for fresh round of negotiations on the vexed Cauvery issue, saying there was no question of talks again.

Addressing a press conference here, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi ruled out any talks with Karnataka on the issue and said the circumstances did not favour any further talks.

When asked whether the state would agree for talks if Karnataka came forward with such a proposal, he said there was no question of talks.

''Only after exhaustive round of talks, the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal was constituted. After a long gap the tribunal had given its final verdict'', he said.

On AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa's demand for notifying the final award of the tribunal in the Gazette, Mr Karunanidhi said ''when the interim award was pronounced we accepted it and a situation did not arise for filing a review petition''.

After the Tribunal gave its final award, the all party meeting convened by the Tamil Nadu government decided to file a review petition. The Karnataka government too had decided to file a review petition.

''This was my explanation to Ms Jayalalithaa', who had stated that the Tribunal's award was not binding on Karnataka, he added.
