Indian Rail to adopt Telemetry Device
Kolkata, Mar 21 (UNI) Stone India has received the ''letter of acceptance'' from Indian Railways for supply of End-of-Train Telemetry device for an initial trial.
This device is an advanced solid-state telemetric safety product and is interfaced with an existing Air Brake System, of which the company is a prime supplier.
This system not only improves the brake system integrity but has a number of other added advantages - continuous brake system performance monitoring and data logging, brake application at the end of train by the train driver, remote communication and train parting information.
In addition, the system can replace the break van at the end of the train with a wagon, thereby generating additional revenue for railways, company sources here today said.
Indian Railways plans to install such a system in all goods trains over a period of time. This is one of the major future products of the newly-formed Railway Electionics division of the company, sources added.
