India, Russia Joint Study Group to improve bilateral trade

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) India and Russia have discussed the expansion and diversification of bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation and a Joint Study Group was set up to prepare a programme to increase the trade between two countries in a wide range of areas, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.

In a written reply to a question of Mr Santosh Bagrodia, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jairam Ramesh said during recent meetings, the two countries had discussed the ways of diversifying and strengthening the bilateral relations in areas like trade in goods and services, investment and economic cooperation agreement between India and Russia.

At the Summit Meetings both sides had discussed the issue of simplifying visa procedures for business travellers from the two countries. However, no agreement had been signed between India and Russia to facilitate vias to Indian business persons, he said.
