India, Bahrain sign two agreements

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) India and Bahrain have signed two agreements for strengthening ties in media and culture and resolved to strengthen bilateral trade and investment.

Thee agreements were signed here last night after talks between visiting Bahraini Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

The Crown Prince, who arrived here on March 19 on a four-day official visit, also held discussions with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on several bilateral, regional and international matters including the Middle East Peace Process (MEPP).

One of the pacts was signed between Prasar Bharti and the Bahraini Broadcasting Corporation.

The two countries also resolved to further strengthen their multi-faceted relationship with Bahrain hoping to boost ties, particularly in social and economic fields.

The Crown Prince yesterday also met other Indian leaders including External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi and Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed and discussed bilateral relations and regional and international developments.

National Security Advisor (NSA) M K Narayanan also called on the Crown Prince who is the Commander-in-chief of the Bahraini Defence Forces.
