Greedy son kills mother in Karnataka

Madikeri, Mar 21 (UNI) A cash hungry son shot dead his 57-year-old mother and had left the body to decay in Chennangolly village, 40 km from here.

According to police Mekerira Saroja lived with her son Pavi Chengappa. Both of them were last seen buying fish in the town on March 15. The same evening, Pavi had a fight with her, demanding money. The mother was cleaning the fish when Pavi came from behind and shot at and killed her.

Leaving the dead body in the house he fled to Bangalore and returned after three days with his friends and again returned with eight bags of coffee. The friends questioned him about the decaying smell, however he said it was fish which was smelling. He had told neighbours his mother has gone to Bangalore.

However, neighbours, who got suspicious about the behaviour of Pavi and informed a relative who visited the house yesterday and noticed bad smell. He lodged a complaint with the police who broke into the house. The decaying body sprawling in a pool of blood was found inside the kitchen.

Police arrested Pavi and recovered the gun used in the crime.
