Commissioner suspends CI, SI

Vijayawada, Mar 21 (UNI) City Police Commissioner C V Anand suspended a Circle Inspector and Sub-Inspector on the charges of dereliction of duty at the Commissionerate.

According to a release from the Commissionerate here last night, Mr Anand also suspended one police constable and ordered the removal of two home guards besides issuing charge memos to 11 other police personnel on similar charges.

Anti-Goonda Squad Circle Inspector Raja Rao had been placed under suspension for his alleged failure in mobilising rowdies to participate in the counselling organised by the Commissioner. He was also accused of failing to track criminals and probe two murder cases.

Meanwhile, Brahimpatnam Sub-Inspector S J Jaya Surya was suspended for not acting on a woman's complaint against her husband.

Home Guard Mukhtiyar Ali Ahmed, who allegedly misled the sub-inspector, was removed from service, the release added.

Venkateswara Rao, a constable, was placed under suspension on the charges of a criminal's escape from Satyanarayanapuram Police Station.

The Commissioner also issued charge memos to four CIs-- Raja Rao, Lakshmipathi, Ramana Murthy and Jagannatha Rao-- in connection with the Shantan Kumar shoot-out case in August last year, for failure in preventing attack on Mr Kumar despite alerts.

Charge memos were also served on five other police personnel for failing to control thefts.
