AP: BJP member suspended from House
Hyderabad, Mar 21: Bharatiya Janata Party Floor Leader G Kishan Reddy was suspended from the services of Andhra Pradesh Assembly for the day today, as he stalled the proceedings demanding an immediate discussion on alleged forcible conversion to Christianity in the Padmavathi Women's University in Tirupati.
Despite repeated appeals by the Speaker K R Suresh Reddy and Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah to come up in some other form to raise the issue, the BJP member insisted that the House set aside regular business and immediately take up the issue raised by him.
Mr Rosaiah maintained that the issue of religious conversions were ''nothing new'' necessitating an immediate discussion.
The member raised slogans against the ruling Congress for ''encouraging'' religious conversions on a large scale.
The Speaker named the member following which Mr Rosaiah moved the motion for the member's suspension which was adopted by the voice vote.
Mr Kishan Reddy left the House raising slogans against Congress President Sonia Gandhi and alleged that regligious conversions were on the rise after the Congress came to power.
