BJP demands Governor's rule in J

Jammu, Mar 21 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP today demanded to dismiss the coalation government and impose Governor's Rule on the state using section 92 of the Jammu and Kashmir Constitution.

BSP State Chief Ashok Khajuria led a five-member delegation comprising Dr Nirmal Singh and Spokesperson Prof Hari Om among other and called on the State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) SK Sinha and submitted a memorandum.

Prof Hari Om told reporters that the Congress-led coalition government in the state has lost its constitutional and moral authority to rule the state even for a day.

''The manner in which the partners are seeking to let each other down publically and in and outside Cabinet meetings is a clear indication that there is a breakdown of constitutional machinery in the already rather disturbed State, he added.

The PDP has been openly subverting the whole system by boycotting the Cabinet meetings on issues as demilitarisation and revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), notwithstanding the fact that it made full use of the Army and this Act when it was in power, Prof Hari Om further said.

''The BJP said the nation cannot afford such a situation at a time when there are definite reports that the Pakistan-sponsored, aided and abetted terrorists and the Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) saboteurs are planning big strikes not only in the state but also elsewhere in the country.

This is what our Prime Minister has told the PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and we believe in whatever he has said in this regard,'' he added.

Party spokesperson said the BJP has no hesitation in saying that those responsible for the protection and promotion of national interests and national sovereignty are themselves acting in a manner that only helps Pakistan and its agents in J and K.

''The Congress-led coalition of disparate, power-hungry and unscrupulous elements has also no right to remain in power. For, its approach is rabidly communal and anti-national, he said.

''The BJP sincerely believes that the time has come to invoke Section 92 of the Jammu and Kashmir Constitution and bring the State under Governor direct control. There is no other alternative left to get rid of this undesirable coalition and set things right in the State, ''The leader voiced.
