Itanagar, Mar 21 (UNI) The Ad hoc committee constituted by the Legislative Assembly Speaker has recommended an enhancement in salary of the sitting legislators.

The committee, headed by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tako Dabi submitted its report in the Assembly yesterday, stating that the salary should be increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 30,000 per month.

The commitee also recommended that allowances like constituency allowances and wage of drivers would remain the same. However, the money allocated for petrol would be as per the Centre's notification, the commitee report said. Other recommendations include enhancement of pension of former members from Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 per month. The family pension of such members would be fixed at not more than 50 per cent of the pension last drawn by the ex-legislator, the report also said.

Accommodation charges of the former legislators at Inspection Bungalows and Circuit houses would be at par with the present MLAs and Group A officers, the commitee recomended.

Besides providing a lump sum amount of Rs 750 per month against medical expenses to former legislators, the committee also suggested that water and electricity charges for them would be at par with other consumers.

However, the House has forwarded the recommendations to the state government for consideration.
