37-member team visits Nandigram

Nandigram, Mar 21 (UNI) A 37-member team of writers, artists and intellecutals visited Nandigram today for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation in the wake of the March 14 police firing.

Under the banner of 'Lekhak-Shilpi-buddhijibi Manch' (Platform of writers, artists and intellecutlas), the team visited different parts of the strife-torn area and talked to the local people.

Eminent theatre personality Saoli Mitra and film maker Aparna Sen were part of the delegation.

Condemning the incident, they alleged to reporters that even women were tortured and children killed in the ghastly aftermath of the firing.
