22 lakh cash stolen from a private passenger bus

Nagpur, Mar 21 (UNI) Cash worth Rs 22 lakh was stolen from a private passenger bus by unidentified miscreants at a roadside eatery near Kondhali, about 45 kms from here last week.

According to police, the cash, inside a suitcase kept in the luggage compartment of the bus, which was on its way from Nagpur to Latur, was stolen when the vehicle was parked at the eatery late on the night of March 17.

The theft was discovered only after the bus resumed its journey when Tatya Morale, who was carrying the cash for a private courier company, noticed that the door of the luggage compartment was open, police said.

Mr Morale immediately informed his employers, who lodged a complaint with the Nagpur District Rural Police yesterday after trying in vain to trace the money, the police said. The police have registered an offence against the unidentified thieves, police added. UNI
