2 killed mob set killer truck afire

Betul, MP, Mar 21 (UNI) Two people, including a girl, were today run over and killed by a truck, which was later set afire by a mob in this district's Hirapur village.

''This afternoon's accident claimed the lives of Mahesh Parte (18) and Shanti Marskole (16). Severely-injured Rukmani (16) was admitted to the district hospital. The trio were returning to their village after appearing for a higher-secondary exam.

Superintendent of Police Jagatsingh Sanswal told UNI.

In the stone-pelting Chopna Station House Officer B S Gurjar was hurt, he said. Truck driver Devnarayan has been arrested,'' he added.

An additional police force has been stationed in the area and the situation is under control. The district administration has provided Rs 5,000 each as ex-gratia to the kin of the deaceased and Rs 2,500 to the injured student.
