Zaheera opts for Batik, Zari work for sustenance

Mumbai, Mar 20 (UNI) Prime witness in the Best Bakery case Zaheera Sheikh will eke out a living by starting Batik and Zari work on sarees here.

Zaheera, recently, came out of Nasik Jail after serving one-year imprisonment term for flip-flopping her statement as prime witness in the case.

Advocate Umesh Deshpande, representing Zaheera in perjury case, told UNI here today that currently she is in his custody and wants to start Batik and Zari work on sarees for her survival.

Before she starts, Zaheera wants to square-up all the legal works and is leaving for Baroda within a day or two to de-freeze her two bank accounts, he said.

The accounts are in Syndicate Bank and Bank of Baroda with deposits of Rs 97,000. These accounts were attached by Income Tax department following the apex court's order, he added.

Mr Deshpande said he will also accompany Zaheera and if the IT department fails to do so she will move an appeal to de-freeze her accounts.
