Youth Congress activists arrested during a protest march
Kolkata, Mar 20 (UNI) More than 100 youth Congress activists were today arrested for violating prohibitory orders during their ''March to Lalbazar'' programme in protest against the Nandigram incident.
Accusing Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee of being responsible for the Nandigram killing and framing ''false charges'' agains the party supporters, Congress president Amitava Chakraborty demanded Mr Bhattacharjee's resignation and withdrawal of all cases pending against his followers.
Congress leader Subrata Mukherjee said not only Nandigram, the state government should issue notifications stating that no farm land would be acquired at Singur, Bhangar and elsewhere for industry.
Later, Mr Chakraborty and Mr Mukherjee along with their followers were arrested.
