Two railway employees heavily drugged by stranger

Ambala, Mar 20 (UNI) Two employees of Ambala city Railway station were admitted to the civil hospital in an unconscious state after they were drugged by some unidentified person last evening in their office.

In an incident being seen as a major lapse in railway security, upgraded in wake of the Samjhauta blasts, an outsider entered the reservation office and offered drug-laced soft drinks to the victims N P Singh and Pale Ram after consuming which both fell unconscious.

The unidentified man disappeared from the scene.

The Assistant Commercial Manager who reached the spot, said the intention of the miscreant was yet to be ascertained as the cash with R C was found intact.

Both the victims, who were rushed to the civil hospital in serious conditions, were heavily drugged and could take a long time to regain consciousness, doctors attending on them said.

The incident has caused an alarm here as in the wake of Samjhauta train blasts the railways have taken extra measures of security on the stations. It is taken as a lapse on the part of security personnel who were deployed at every point of the railway station.
