Tight security in port complex

Puducherry, Mar 20 (UNI) Security has been tightened in the port complex and Thengaithittu village in the wake of ransacking of the security office and assault of two security personnel by the villagers opposing the land acquisition for the port development here.

On a complaint from a Police Sub-Inspector here, cases under Section 427, 336, 458, 143 and 149 of the IPC were registered against 10 unknown persons for ransacking and assaulting the port security office and the security personnel.

The police were on a look-out for them.

Meanwhile, land acquisition opposition committee convenor Kaliyappan lodged a complaint with the police that the private firm entrusted with the port development project had violated the court order. Hence, action should be taken against them.
