AP: Speaker disallows adjournment motion notices

Hyderabad, Mar 20: Opposition party members disrupted the proceedings for some time in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly today as Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed adjournment motion notice on various issues.

As soon as the House met for the day, the Speaker announced that he was disallowing the adjournment motion notices by the TDP, the CPI(M) and the BJP demanding setting aside of the listed business and taking up for discussion the alleged leakage of intermediate question paper.

The Speaker also disallowed the adjournment motion notice by the CPI on the need for enhancing state freedom fighters pension on a par with the Centre and the TRS for provision of minimum support price for sugarcane growers.

The Opposition members were on their feet to press for an immediate discussion on the issues raised by them.

Order was restored in the House when Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said the House should immediately take up a condolence resolution in memory of former Assembly Speaker G Narayana Rao and adjourn for the day, as was the practice.
