Snow, rain in HP
Shimla, Mar 20 (UNI) High-altitude areas of the tribal districts of Himachal Pradesh experienced mild snowfall while the mid and lower hills were lashed by rains over the last 24 hours, reviving fears of another spell of coldwave conditions in the state.
The high-altitude areas of the tribal districts of Kinnuar, Lahaul Spiti and Chamba experienced fresh spell of intermittent snowfall, while the lower areas received light rains last night.
The Met office said Dhundi in Kullu district received 24 cm of fresh snow followed by 13 at Patseio in Lahaul Spiti, 12 at Kelong and three at Kaza in Kinnuar district.
Rains lashed mid and lower hills of the state, with Manali in Kullu district, Khajjiar and Dhalhousie in Chamba district and Kufri, Narkanda, Fagu Sarahan and Shimla town in Shimla district, experiencing light rains, it said.
The state capital recorded 9.2 mm of rain till 1730 hrs, while Sundernagar received 5.2, Bhuntar 13.4, Kalpa six, Dharamshala 7.4 and Palampur seven mm of rain by 0830 hrs.
Both Solang Nullah and Bhang Manali in Kullu recorded 20 mm of rain, registering a decline in the day temperature.
The sky remained mainly overcast throughout the day in the state capital.
The Met department said the minimum temperature here was 7.5 degrees celsius, 12.6 at Sundernagar, 9.8 at Bhuntar and minus point five at Kalpa in Kinnuar district.
