Second murder in Nilokhari in less than two days

Karnal, Mar 20 (UNI) Close on the heels of broad daylight shooting of a youth and rape of his woman companion yesterday, another body was recovered from roadside in Nilokheri, about 20 km from here this morning.

The body appeared to be of a man in his early forties with no sign of external injury. The police were waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the cause of his death.

The recovery of the dead body has created ripples in the area where yesterday a motorcycle-borne youth Ram Chander was shot dead by two persons, while on his way to Kurukshetra on the occasion of solar eclipse along with one Sunita. The criminals reportedly waylaid them as policemen near Samna Bahu village in the Nilokheri sub-division of the district.

After shooting down Ram Chander, hailing from Gannaur in Sonepat district, the duo who had apparently followed them on a motorcycle, dragged Sunita, the pillion-rider, into a nearby field and raped her, as also confirmed by the medical examination.

Ironically, Sunita's husband Om Prakash claimed he was not even aware that his wife had gone to Kurukshetra along with Ram Chander.

A case under section 302, 376 IPC and 25, 54 under Arms Act has been registered.
