RS adjourned following pandemonium over the Nandigram issue
New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 1400 hrs today following pandemonium as the Opposition members shouted slogans demanding stringent action against West Bengal Chief Minister Budhadeb Bhattacharya over the Nandigram issue.
However, amidst the slogan shouting the House passed the National Tax Tribunal (Amendment) Bill, 2007 and papers relating to various ministries were also presented. During the ten minutes proceedings, Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan also read out President A P J Abdul Kalam's statement on the Rajya Sabha members passing the vote of thanks to his address to both the house of Parliament.
The House was forced to adjourn first at the commencement of the day's sitting till noon. As soon as the House reassembled the BJP and Trinamool Congress members started shouting slogans ''Buddhadeb Hatyara Hai, Budhadeb ko Phansi do (Budhadeb is a killer, hang him) and ''Lathi Goli ki sarkar Nahin Chalegi'' (Government run by force of baton and bullet would not continue).
They also shouted slogans against UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi alleging that she was sheilding Mr Bhattacharya as her government was running on the support from the left parties.
