Rahul's meeting at Bareilly gets cancelled
Bareilly, Mar 20: Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi on the third day of his roadshow today did not turn up at the public meeting scheduled to be held at the KDEM Inter Collegiate school ground premises.
District Magistrate(DM) Bhuvnesh Kumar has cancelled the permission for the public meeting as the State Board Exams were to begin at 1400 hrs at the school.
The DM said the permission for the meeting was given from 1330 hrs to 1345 hrs. He also said since Mr Gandhi did not appear on scheduled time, he had to cancel the meeting as the board exams of 10th and 12th standards were to begin in the school from 1400 hrs onwards.
A local Congress spokesman said the time given to them was 1100 hrs to 1330 hrs. But due to the roadside meetings the Congress MP got delayed for this public meeting.
The Election Commission has given the directive that no loudspeakers are allowed after 1400 hrs in consideration of the ongoing board examinations and any violation of the rule would go against the model code of conduct for the elections.
Mr Gandhi proceeded towards Dillari, 110 km from here for his next public meeting where he is expected to meet the press.
