Puducherry administration prepares 'City Development Plan'

Puducherry, Mar 20 (UNI) The Puducherry administration has prepared a comprehensive 'city development plan' to meet some urgent needs, Minister for Health and Housing E Valsaraj said.

Addressing a meeting of State Housing Ministers at a national consultation on the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission in New Delhi on Saturday last, a copy of which was released to the press here today, Mr Valsaraj said the final touches to the draft plan, at an estimated outlay of Rs 1,365 crore, were being given. The component schemes of the city development plan were being prioritized sector-wise, he added.

Stating that the floating population was high in Puducherry region, he added that the thrust on infrastrucutre was considerably high and so the funding should be based on the real requirements of the local bodies and not merely on population.
