Miscreants loot Rs 8,000 cash from temple

Surat, Mar 20 (UNI) A gang of robbers looted Rs 8,000 from Bhakthidam temple in Poongam area here early today after attacking the priest and some devotees.

The 15-member gang entered the temple around 0200 hrs and attacked temple priest Mahindra Shukla with sticks and locked him in his room. Later, they entered the main hall of the temple and attacked some devotees there before decamping with Rs 8,000 cash from the temple cellar, police sources said.

Police have begun a hunt for the robbers, sources added.
