Khadi rebate under consideration: Govt

New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The process of determining rebate on khadi and khadi related items from next month is under consideration, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

In addition to the existing initiatives such as financial assistance under product development, design and intervention and packaging (PRODIP), the government is considering other steps by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) for promoting the use of khadi, SSI and Agro and Rural Industries Minister Mahabir Prasad said in a written reply.

Among the initiatives taken for the promotion of khadi are the use of khadi by Railways, Defence and Health Ministries and the launch of brand name ''Khadi India'' for khadi products.
