Jammu, Mar 20 (UNI) The House Committee today directed the Assembly Secretariat to send a communication to the government to circulate instructions to all departments to involve concerned MLA for engaging any casual labourer in future.

The House Committee was constituted by the Speaker to look in to the appointments made in various departments without adopting the due course of law and works executed without observing codal formalities since 1996.

To accomplish the task assigned to House Committee a meeting was held here at Assembly Secretariat which was chaired by senior MLA Mrs Khem Lata Wakhloo. The meeting held threadbare discussion on the subject and Members put forth their viewpoints.

The Committee reviewed the progress achieved till date and decided further action on the matter. It was apprised that the data required for the purpose has been procured by the Assembly Secretariat and made available to each Member and department-wise scrutiny would be done and recommendations would be made to the House accordingly.

Meanwhile, the Committee also asked Assembly Secretariat to send a communication to the Chief Secretary requesting him to circulate instructions to all departments.

The Committee would also welcome views/suggestions of MLAs/MLCs other than the Committee members, which would help the Committee in finalisation of its report in more transparent way. In the first instance the Committee would examine the records of Public Health Engineering Department which has already been made available to the Committee.

Those present in the meeting included M Y Shah, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Ghulam Raza, M Y Tarigami, Shanti Devi and Additional Secretary Assembly Mohammad Ramzan.
