Governor, CM greets people on Navroz

Jammu, Mar 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad have greeted the people of the state on the eve of Navroz.

In a message, the governor hoped the day would be observed in true spirit of the composite culture and prayed for joy and happiness for all.

Since the day is also observed as World Arbour Day, General Sinha called for massive plantation saying that mankind is inextricably linked to the well being of trees and forests. He also stressed the need for effective measures to conserve forest resources and bio-diversity, which is imperative for maintaining ecology.

In his Navroz message, Mr Azad said the festival has wide ranging significances for the people across the world apart from religious and heritage importance.
