Fire in Russian old people's home kills 50

Moscow, Mar 20: A fire in a Russian old people's home killed 50 today, the Emergencies Ministry was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies.

More than 90 people were at the home in the Black Sea region of Kuban when the fire broke out, the agencies reported. They said the fire had now been put out.

A regional spokesman for the Emergencies Ministry declined to confirm the information when contacted by Reuters, saying: ''It is being clarified.'' Interfax quoted a spokesman for the ministry as saying: ''The fire occurred at 0112 hours.
