EC appoints 4 Special Observers for 1st four UP poll phases

New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today appointed four Special Observers (SO) for the first four phases of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

According to EC sources, these SOs will be involved in overall supervision and coordination work to ensure free and fair elections and that the voters were not subjected to any kind of fear or allurement to cast their votes. They would also monitor the deployment of the Central para military forces.

These four SOs are Raymond Peter for first phase, N Sivasilam for second phase, Sudhir Rakesh for the third phase and Satyamurthy for the fourth phase, the sources added.
