Morena, MP, Mar 20 (UNI) The police personnel who were in contact with dacoit Jagjivan Parihar -- who was active in ravines of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan -- have been identified and would be facing departmental action soon.

''Though Parihar and his accomplices were slain recently in the Garhi Budhara village encounter, the chieftain's cellphone is still eluding us. However, details were obtained from other sources,'' said Inspector-General (Chambal Range) Vijay Yadav told mediapersons here today.

Though the officer refused to divulge the names, he added that personnel of almost all ranks were involved. Mr Yadav discounted the likelihood of a political leader having spoken to Parihar on the night of the encounter.

''Parihar's diary was found at the site and is being probed.

Personnel are still deployed at the village and, if locals wish, a permanent post will be set up there,'' the IG assured in response to a question.
