CITU 24-hr fast to press demands

Madurai, Mar 20 (UNI) Protesting against the DMK Government's alleged backdoor move to privatise the State Transport Corporation the CPI(M)-led CITU commenced a 24-hour fast at two places in the city today.

The fast was also to press the workers 11-point charter of demands.

Over 100 STC employees took part in the protest in front of the corporation bus depot while 50 employees were on fast near the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) premises. The fast, which began earlier in the day, would conclude tomorrow morning. CITU leaders charged the DMK Government with continuing with the policies of the previous Jayalalithaa regime.

SETC workers pressed for basic amenities at the SETC depot in the city and at the inter-state bus terminal at Koyambedu in Chennai.
