New Delhi, Mar 20: The Union Home Ministry has constituted a Welfare And Rehabilitation Board for the Central Police Forces with a view to boosting their morale.

A Spokesman of the ministry described it as a "landmark welfare measure," and said it would provide an institutionalised mechanism to look into the welfare and rehabilitation requirement of Central Police Force personnel.

"The task of the Board will include looking after immediate dependents of personnel dying in harness, extending help to resolve personal problems relating to children's education, land and property issues and serious medical problems," an official release said here today.

The Board will consist of a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and 6 members. The Chairperson will be one of the Director Generals (DGs) of Central Paramilitary Forces by rotation.

The Vice-chairperson will be ADG of the force to which the Chairperson belongs. Inspectors Generals (Admin) of the forces will be the members.

This Board will have an all-India presence with six Central Welfare Officers, 29 State Welfare Officers and 124 District Welfare Officers.
