BJP to launch UP assembly poll campaign on Mar 25

Allahabad, Mar 20 (UNI) The BJP will formally launch its Uttar Pradesh assembly poll campaign simultaneously from three places -- Kanpur, Agra and Jhansi -- on March 25.

Talking to UNI here, state party president Keshri Nath Tripathi said former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, party's senior leader Kalyan Singh and Apna Dal president Dr Sone Lal Patel would be present at Kanpur.

''Former BJP national president L K Advani and Lalji Tandon will be present at Agra, while party president Rajnath Singh and Janata Dal (U) president Sharad Yadav will launch the campaign at Jhansi,'' he added.

Besides, the party would hold workers' conferences on the same day at 12 important places.

''Corruption, terrorism, poverty, suicide by farmers and Ram temple would be the main issues on the agenda in the elections.

The party's menifesto is expected on March 27 or 28, he added.

He claimed there was no controversy on ticket distribution in the party and no resentment among party workers.

Asked about Gorakhpur BJP MP Yogi Adityanath fielding his own candidates in the UP poll, Mr Tripathi said it would have no impact on the party's vote bank.
