BJP not to join hands with BSP and SP in UP: Rudy

Jamshedpur, Mar 20 (UNI) BJP national spokesman and former Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy today said the party would not go for an electoral alliance with either the Bahujan Samajwadi Party or the Samajwadi Party in the coming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Mr Rudy told newspersons here that the trend of recent state and municipal elections had shown the voters' inclination towards the BJP and the party was regaining its base in many states.

He claimed that the party would register a comfortable majority in the UP and the Goa Assembly polls.

He said UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh's strategy was ''strongly discredited'' and the BJP was emerging as the only viable alternative in the state.

Mr Rudy, also the party's in-charge of Goa, claimed the BJP was fast emerging as a national alternative as the people were disenchanted with the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government at the Centre.

Expressing concern over the UPA government's total ''failure'' to contain price hike of the essentials, Mr Rudy wondered why the Centre had failed despite two great economists like Dr Manmohan Singh and P Chidambaram being at the helm of the affairs.

He said out of hundered crore people only ten per cent had been enjoying the benefit of the the government's economic policy.

Criticising the Centre for adopting a dual policy to counter terrorism, Mr Rudy said on one hand, the Prime Minister was saying the culprits of the Samjhauta Express blast would be punished, while on the other his government had kept pending the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

He alleged that dragging the name of president A P J Abdul Kalam in the case was the conspiracy of the UPA government.

Terming Nandigram issue as a danger to democracy, Mr Rudy alleged that the Leftists had deviated from their ideology and were killing innocent farmers in the name of industrialisation and the creation of Special Economic Zone.
