Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, Mar 20 (UNI) A bandh call given by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) district unit pressing for shifting of the Railway station here to Melevittan, about 7 km from here, turned violent with a few other parties opposing it.

The DMK demanded the shifting of the station due to the three level crossings, closer to the station, causing traffic jam frequently.

The bandh call was defied by AIADMK, MDMK and PMK. About 20 shops including Natarajan Enterprises, Malai Sudi Tyres and Jannat Gift Centre were attacked and damaged for refusing to down the shutters.
