APTRANSCO bags award for efficient performance

Hyderabad, Mar 20 (UNI) APTRANSCO bagged the coveted award for its efficient performance in the power sector. The Central Electricity Authority has selected the transmission system (200 KV and 400 KV) of APTRANSCO, for its outstanding performance in the entire country, in regard to transmission system availability for the year 2005-06.

Chairman and Managing Director of APTRANSCO Rachel Chatterjee would receive a golden shield from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at New Delhi on March 21. APTRANSO would also receive the silver shield for the year 2004-05, during the occasion.

Expressing joy over the coveted award CMD informed that the availability of transmission system in APTRANSCO had gone up from 99.35 per cent in 2003-04 to 99.85 per cent in 2004-05 and 99.87 per cent in 2005-06.

APTRANSCO had invested Rs 774 crore in 2004-05 and 2005-06 for expanding and strengthening the transmission networks, the CMD added.

Explaining the factors contributing to the highest transmission system availability, CMD said the key parameters to ensure transmission system availability were identified. Hence a monitoring system was initiated through a committee of technical directors, which was followed up in a monthly review by the board of APTRANSCO.
