Another army jawan killed by colleague in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 20 (UNI) A soldier was killed by his colleague in an army camp in the frontier district of Kupwara, a police spokesman said.

Earlier, reports said he committed suicide in the camp.

He said a Lance Naik Rajesh Kumar was shot dead by Naik Rajesh Mr of 203 Engineering Regiment in Zangli army camp in the frontier district of Kupwara.

A case has been registered in Kupwara police stationin this regard.

The injured soldier died before he could be shifted to a hospital, sources added.

More than 20 security personnel were killed during the past six months in similar incidents in the Kashmir valley despite the introduction of Yoga and the Art of Living classes.

The different security agencies, engaged in counter-insurgency operations in the Valley, have introduced Yoga and the Art of Living classes to help security force personnel come out of the stress.

At least 12 security personnel, including some officers, were also killed by their colleagues in the Valley during the same period.

A soldier was recently awarded death by a court martial for killing Lt Colonel Saket Sexana at Harwan camp.

According to a survey, mental stress and family disputes are the main reasons which compel security force personnel to take such extreme steps.
