Imphal, Mar 20(UNI) The All Manipur Working Journalists' Union has condemned the assault on two journalists by bandh supporters yesterday.

The journalists had gone to Moreh in Chandel district, the bordering town, where a bandh was being observed. When they returned yesterday, their cameras were taken away by bandh supporters.

The Hill Tribals Council, the organisation which called the bandh in the area, had given written approval to the journalists to move towards Imphal during the bandh. However, it was not respected by those on the road.

Earlier journalists who went to Kotlien, Senpati district were also beaten up by Assam Rifles troops for covering an agitation called to protest the alleged rape of an 18-year old girl by an AR jawan.
