All airlines asked to withdraw congestion surcharge
New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked all scheduled airlines to withdraw congestion surcharge.
The airlines have been asked to respond tomorrow, minister for civil aviation Praful Patel told the parliament today.
Private scheduled airlines are charging air congestion surcharge on their entire network, he told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
However, Mr Patel said air fares are not regulated by the government after repeal of the Air Corporation Act, 1953 and domestic airlines are free to charge fares in their commercial judgment.
